2019 Sprinter Origin Database
In connection with its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter investigation, TINA.org collected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) associated with each vehicle in its sampling of 2019 Sprinter vans, which were listed for sale online by Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the U.S. between February and March 2019. As explained in more detail here, TINA.org used the 11th digit of the VIN, which represents the plant where the VIN is affixed to the completed vehicle, to determine where each Sprinter was manufactured.
Of the 2,390 Sprinter vans in TINA.org’s sampling, 90% came from a plant in Germany and 10% came from the U.S. plant in South Carolina.
