June 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against General Motors for allegedly marketing its Cruze diesel vehicles as being “clean diesel” and complying with regulatory standards when, according to the complaint, the company programmed the vehicles to turn off or limit the effectiveness of emission reduction systems during certain driving conditions and the vehicles emit more pollutants than federal and state laws allow. (Zamora et al v. General Motors LLC, Case No. 16-cv-4501, C. D. CA.)
