August 2016: This action was dismissed When a complaint is dismissed with prejudice, it cannot be refiled. because the parties reached a settlement agreement. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

December 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against General Motors Company for allegedly misrepresenting the towing capacity of the 2014 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company falsely advertised the Sierra, which is “mechanically identical” to the Silverado 1500 trucks, as being able to safely tow 8,800 pounds and having a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating value (GCWR) of 14,400 pounds when, in reality, the truck is able to safely tow only 6,700 pounds and has a GCWR of only 12,000 pounds. (The Gross Combined Weight Rating, or GCWR, is the total allowable weight of the completely loaded vehicle and trailer.) (Quintero et al v. General Motors Company and Does 1-10, Case No. 15-cv-2530, C. D. CA.)
