Unilever’s Dry Shampoos
Allegations: Failing to disclose that products may contain the carcinogen benzene
In November and December 2020, multiple class-action lawsuits were filed against Unilever and Conopco for allegedly falsely representing that TRESemmé keratin hair shampoos – including the Smoothing Shampoo and the Smooth Color Shampoo – smooth hair and coat it in keratin without disclosing that ingredients in the shampoos cause hair loss and irritate the scalp. Plaintiffs also claim that the shampoos are marketed as safe without warning consumers that the products contain dangerous ingredients. Click on the case information below to read each complaint.
