September 2017: Another class-action lawsuit was filed alleging that the marketing for Soft Sheen-Carson Optimum Salon Haircare® brand Amla Legend Rejuvenating Ritual Relaxer Kit does not adequately warn consumers that using the product may cause significant hair loss and skin and scalp irritation. (Smith et al v. L’Oréal, USA, Inc. and Soft Sheen-Carson, LLC, Case No. 17-cv-1661, N. D. AL.)

July 2017: This case was consolidated with two similar class actions against L’Oréal, Carter v. L’Oréal USA and Blackmon v. L’Oréal USA. (Case No. 16-cv-508, S. D. AL.)

May 2017: The Valrie case was transferred from the northern district of Alabama to the southern district of Alabama.

February 2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against L’Oréal USA and Soft Sheen-Carson for allegedly deceptively marketing Soft Sheen-Carson Optimum Salon Haircare® brand Amla Legend Rejuvenating Ritual Relaxer Kit as safe and gentle without adequately disclosing that the product may cause serious injuries, including significant hair loss and burns.
