October 2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Walgreen Co. for allegedly misrepresenting that its joint supplement containing glucosamine and chondroitin will “rebuild cartilage” without clinical studies to support such claims. In addition, plaintiffs claim the company promises that the supplement will rebuild cartilage when it knows it is physically and biologically impossible to rebuild lost or damaged cartilage. (Group et al v. Walgreen Co., Case No. 13-cv-81105, S. D. FL.).
