June 2016: Another class-action lawsuit was filed against Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s for allegedly misrepresenting the nature and amount of price discounts of products sold at retail and outlet stores. Specifically, the complaint claims that the stores misleadingly compare discounted prices to artificially inflated regular prices to make consumers believe they were getting a “substantial discount and thus a significant bargain on their purchases.” (Carder et al v. Macy’s West Stores, Inc., Macy’s Inc., and Bloomingdale’s, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-3341, N. D. CA.)
