In January 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Gojo Industries for allegedly deceptively marketing that Purell hand sanitizers will prevent and reduce the flu and other viruses when, according to the complaint, the company does not have adequate scientific studies to support such claims. (Marinovich et al v. Gojo Industries, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-747, N.D. Cal.)
