Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizers
In February 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Purell for allegedly falsely advertising that Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer products “kill[] more than 99.99% of most common germs” and prevent illnesses – including Ebola, MRSA, norovirus, and the flu – when, according to the complaint, there is no evidence to support such claims. Plaintiffs also claim that the company markets Purell hand sanitizer products as drug without FDA approval. (Jurkiewicz et al v. Gojo Industries, Inc. d/b/a Purell, Case No. 20-cv-279, N.D. Ohio)
