360-Degree Camera Systems in Ford Vehicles
Allegations: Marketing that the 360-degree camera system is a safety feature in vehicles when the system routinely malfunctions and does not work as advertised due to a defect
August 2019: Multiple lawsuits – including the Cook, Hubert, and Lloyd cases – were transferred to a multidistrict litigation (MDL) in Michigan to be heard together. (In Re: Ford Motor Co. F-150 and Ranger Trucks Fuel Economy Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, MDL No. 2901, U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation)
Also in August, several more similar lawsuits were filed against Ford.
June/July 2019: Several more lawsuits bringing similar allegations against Ford Motor Company were filed.
May 2019: Two class-action lawsuits were filed against Ford Motor Company for allegedly marketing false fuel-economy ratings for its Ford Ranger and F-150 trucks and overstating the miles per gallon that the vehicles could achieve when, according to plaintiffs, Ford uses flawed testing methods and the vehicles do not achieve the advertised miles per gallon. Click on the case information below to read each complaint.
Another class-action lawsuit was filed against Ford Motor Company in May 2019 alleges that the automobile company deceptively claims that the trucks – including its 2019 Ranger Trucks and F-150 series trucks – are fuel efficient when, according to plaintiffs, the vehicles have a cheat device and don’t achieve the advertised fuel economy in real-world driving conditions. (Lloyd et al v. Ford Motor Co., Case No. 19-cv-11319, E. D. MI.)
