January 2019: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Barlean’s Organic Oils for allegedly misleadingly marketing its coconut oils as healthy and a healthy alternative to butter and other cooking oils when, according to the plaintiffs, the coconut oil is actually unhealthy and a less healthy choice. (Testone et al v. Barlean’s Organic Oils, LLC, Case No. 19-cv-169, S.D. Cal.)
