A class-action lawsuit was filed against Vitamin Shoppe for allegedly misleadingly marketing its Garcinia Cambogia Extract. According to the complaint, Vitamin Shoppe markets the product as a dietary supplement that effectively aids in weight management and appetite control when the only active ingredients (hydroxycitric acid and chromium) do not provide such weight-loss benefits. The case was filed in June 2017 and transferred to federal court in August 2017. (Nathan et al v. Vitamin Shoppe, Inc., Case No. 17-cv-1590, S. D. CA.)
