The reasons for the dismissal have not been disclosed.

July 2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against The Vitamin Shoppe for allegedly falsely advertising its Betaine HCI product.  Specifically, the plaintiffs claim that The Vitamin Shoppe market the product as consisting of betaine hydrochloride from “sugar beets” when, in reality, betaine hydrochloride can only be created synthetically and is not naturally derived.  (Womack et al. v.
