March 2016: A false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against ALDI for allegedly falsely marketing Reggano 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese as containing “100% Grated Parmesan Cheese” when, according to plaintiffs, it actually contains 16.71% cellulose, an ingredient that is made from wood pulp and can be used as a filler. The complaint was originally filed in state court in March 2016 and transferred to federal court in June 2016. (Hackman et al v. ALDI Inc. d/b/a Reggano, Case No. 16-cv-1264, D.D.C.)
