2016: A false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against LensCrafters for, among other thing, allegedly advertising that customers who purchase eyeglasses at LensCrafters receive the benefits of its exclusive AccuFit® Digital Measurement System, suggesting that customers will obtain their pupillary distance measurement, when, in reality, LensCrafters withholds this information in order to preclude customers from getting their eyeglass prescriptions filled elsewhere. The lawsuit was originally filed in April 2016 and transferred to federal court in June 2016. (Friest et al v. LensCrafters et al, Case No. 16-cv-3327, D. NJ.)
