May 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against several companies for allegedly deceptively advertising “free trials” for several brands of weight-loss and workout supplements, including Hyper Fuel 9x, Elevate GF, Optimal Stack, and Nitra Cycle. According to the complaint, the online advertisements represent that consumers who pay for the cost of shipping and handling can try the supplement for “free” without adequately disclosing that they will be charged a monthly fee if they do not cancel the trial offer.
