In July 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Rubbermaid and Newell Brands for allegedly falsely marketing that FreshWorks Produce Saver products create an “optimal environment” for produce that will keep it fresh up to 80% longer than store packaging when, according to the plaintiffs, there is not an “optimal environment for all produce” and the products do not work as advertised. (Zearfoss et al v. Rubbermaid, Inc. and Newell Brands, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-6392, C.D. Cal.)
