October 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against MusclePharm Corporation for allegedly deceptively advertising FitMiss Fat-Burning supplements. The complaint, which was originally filed in Nevada and later transferred to Colorado, alleges that the company claims, among other things, that the supplements will “reduce[] body fat,” “boost” and “promote” metabolism, and “burn [] fat” when, in reality, the supplements are not effective for fat burning or weight control. (Bey et al v. MusclePharm Corporation, Case No. 14-cv-02881, D. CO.).
