Coppertone Sport High Performance SPF 30

A false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against Bayer Healthcare and Merck & Co. for allegedly misleadingly labeling Coppertone Sport High Performance SPF 30 sunscreen sprays and lotions as being “SPF 30” when, according to the complaint, scientific testing showed that the sunscreens contain an average SPF of only 13.9 or 14.8. The lawsuit was originally filed in state court in November 2017 and transferred to federal court in December. (Roseman et al v. Bayer Healthcare LLC and Merck & Co., Inc., Case No. 17-cv-13308, D.N.J.)
