March 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Vitamin Shoppe for allegedly mislabeling its dietary supplements, including BodyTech Whey Tech Pro 24, BodyTech 100% Casein, and BodyTech Primal Pro. Plaintiffs claim that, among other things, the company misleadingly labels products as “Enhanced with Aminogen®” when, in reality, the products do not contain enough of the ingredient for it to be effective. In addition, the complaint alleges that the company falsely claims that lactase helps in the absorption and digestion of protein. (Hermida et al v. Vitamin Shoppe, Inc., Case No. 14-cv-00172, M. D. FL.).
