Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion 30-Day Smoothing Kit

According to a lawsuit, Suave marketed its Keratin Infusion 30-day Smoothing Kit as formaldehyde-free and safe when it actually contained a chemical called “DMDM Hydantoin, a chemical that is known as a ‘Formaldehyde-releaser.’” Formaldehyde is classified as a known carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The plaintiffs in the case allege that the product caused hair damage and scalp burns.

Suave recalled the Smoothing Kit in 2012, but it allegedly did not recall the product in a complete and timely manner and failed to warn consumers that the product could be hazardous.
