January 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed alleging that Verde Energy falsely represents that it offers variable energy rates based on market conditions when, according to plaintiffs, the energy company routinely charges almost four times the market rate. (Marshall et al v. Verde Energy USA, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-1344, D.N.J.)
