March 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Target, Kraft Heinz Foods Company, and Walmart Stores for allegedly deceptively marketing various brands of parmesan cheese products – including Kraft’s, Walmart’s Great Value, and Target’s Market Pantry – as containing “100% grated Parmesan Cheese” when such claims are false. According to the complaint, Walmart’s and Kraft’s parmesan cheese products contain a substantial amount of fillers and Target’s products contain no parmesan cheese. (Hara et al v. Target Corporation, Kraft Heinz Foods Company, and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-686, D. Minn.)
