In August 2016, a class-action lawsuit was filed against General Mills for allegedly deceptively labeling products – including cereals – as healthy when they actually contain excess sugar and, as a result, increase the risk of chronic diseases. (Truxel et al v. General Mills Sales, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-4957, N. D. CA.)
