November 2015: A federal judge granted United Airline’s motion to dismiss the complaint When a complaint is dismissed with prejudice, it cannot be refiled. holding that federal law preempts all of the claims.

March 2015: class-action lawsuit was filed against United Airlines for allegedly selling DirecTV and WiFi services to passengers on flights without adequately disclosing that the services only work when a plane is flying in the continental United States — the services do not work when the plane is flying over water or outside of the continental United States. (David et al v. United Continental Holdings, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc., Case No. 15-cv-01926, D. NJ.).
