Allegations: Misrepresenting that they secure consumers’ personal information when they failed to do so and there was a data breach in May 2024
In December 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Ticketmaster for allegedly misleadingly marketing itself and its TradeDesk platform as a “safe and fair place” to buy resale tickets (tickets that have already been purchased but are re-uploaded to the site to be resold) and publicly criticizes scalpers (those who buy tickets for the sole purpose of reselling them at higher prices for a profit) when, according to plaintiffs, Ticketmaster violates its own terms and conditions by allowing scalpers to use bots to buy tickets and then resell them at higher prices, which leads to a shortage of tickets on ticketmaster.com, inflated prices, and increased fees on resale tickets.
