In January 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Barcel USA for allegedly deceptively packaging Takis Rolled Tortilla Chips in bags that are “mostly filled with air” to make consumers believe they are buying more chips than they actually are. According to the complaint, the bags are 59% empty space. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in May 2018.) (Morrison et al v. Barcel USA, LLC, Case No. 18-cv-531, S.D.N.Y.)
