In September 2017, a false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against SolarCity. The complaint alleges that the company deceptively promises consumers who install solar panels will save on their energy bills when, according to plaintiffs, they do not save on their energy bills. In addition, the complaint alleges that the company requires non-English speaking consumers to sign contracts that are written in the English, in violation of California law. (Guzman et al v. SolarCity Corporation, Case No. 17-cv-6511, C. D. CA.)
