2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Riddell, Inc. (and later amended in 2015). The complaint alleges, among other things, that the company markets VSR Series and Revolution helmets as being safe and having the ability to reduce the risk of injuries (including concussions) when, according to plaintiffs, the helmets did not work as advertised and the company did not adequately disclose important information — including warnings about the risks — to consumers. (DuRocher et al v. Riddell, Inc. et al, Case No. 13-cv-1570, S. D. IN.)
