In June 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against the owners of restaurants, bars, and other food service establishments in the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in Florida for allegedly failing to adequately disclose that customers who purchased food and beverages would be charged an automatic gratuity service charge, in violation of Florida law. (Heckman et al v. SBE Ent Holdings, LLC et al, Case No. 18-cv-22258, S.D. Fla.)
