Prairie Farms Premium Vanilla Bean Ice Creams

In January 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Prairie Farms Dairy for allegedly misleadingly marketing that Prairie Farms Premium Vanilla Bean Ice Creams are flavored exclusively with vanilla beans when, according to the complaint, the ingredients list shows that the ice creams also contain unspecified “natural flavor.” Plaintiffs also claim that the company likely uses “exhausted” vanilla beans to make the ice creams look more like the flavor comes from vanilla even though the beans do not add any flavor to the product because they have had all of the flavor extracted from them. (Darby et al v. Prairie Farms Dairy, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-151, S. D. NY.)
