Court Cancels ‘Click-to-Cancel’ Rule
It won’t get any easier to cancel those annoying subscriptions.
In March 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against North American Bancard (a payment processing company) doing business as Pay Anywhere, LLC for allegedly misrepresenting the cost of card readers (devices used to process credit card transactions in connection with a business). The complaint alleges that the company misrepresents that individuals will not be charged fees unless they use the device to process credit card transactions when, according to the complaint, the named plaintiff never used the card reader and was still charged fees. (McGhee et al v. North American Bancard, LLC, Case No. 17-cv-586, S. D. CA.)
