Allegations: Falsely marketing cheeses as “natural”
In December 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Sargento Foods Inc. for allegedly misleadingly marketing that cheeses – including Monterey Jack Natural Cheese, Natural Double Cheddar Cheese, Colby Natural Cheese, and others – contain “No Antibiotics” when, according to plaintiffs, the milk used to make the cheeses comes from cows given antibiotics resulting in the cheeses sometimes containing antibiotics. (Phan et al v. Sargento Foods Inc., Case No. 20-cv-9251, N.D. Cal.)
