In May 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Netgear alleging that its all-in-one baby monitor Arlo Baby does not work as advertised. Plaintiffs claim that the company misleadingly markets that consumers can stream video and audio from the baby monitors on other devices (such as computers, cellphones, and tablets) when, according to the complaint, the baby monitors, which require an internet connection to work, frequently disconnect from the internet and do not reconnect automatically. In addition, the complaint claims that Netgear promised to release a tablet that would make the baby monitor capable of streaming without an internet connection in the summer of 2017 when, according to the plaintiffs, the company did not release the tablet and the baby monitor still requires an internet connection.
