February-March 2019: Two class-action lawsuits were filed against several coffee distributors, wholesalers, and retailers – including Walmart, Costco, Bed Bath & Beyond, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls – for allegedly falsely labeling products as Kona coffee so that consumers think the coffee is grown in the Kona district on the Big Island of Hawaii when, according to plaintiffs, the products contain little to no Kona coffee.
