May 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Costco Wholesale Corporation for allegedly misleadingly marketing the Kirkland Signature line of “environmentally responsible” cleaners – including liquid dish soap and laundry detergent – as being green, natural, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic when, according to the complaint, the products contain unnatural, harmful, and toxic chemical ingredients. (Mattero et al v. Costco Wholesale Corp., Case No. 18-cv-2871, N.D. Cal.)
