In June 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Combe, Inc. for, among other things, allegedly deceptively representing that Just For Men® Jet Black is safe and cosmetically effective without warning consumers that the product is dangerous and increases the risk of severe physical injuries, including rashes, itching, swelling, burning sensations, and shortness of breath. The complaint also alleges that the marketing is directed to African American men and is discriminatory. (Stringer et al v. Combe, Inc. et al, Case No. 17-cv-3192, N. D. CA.)
