January 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against JD Closeouts – a warehouse company selling wholesale and surplus goods – alleging, among other things, that the company makes many false representations to induce purchasers to buy products. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company falsely represents products – including sofas, tables, and entertainment centers – are “like new” and “purchasers can double or triple the money invested” when, according to plaintiffs, most of the products are older and not suitable for resale to make a profit.
