February 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Jason Natural Products for allegedly misleadingly marketing personal care products – including shampoos and conditioners – as containing only safe and gentle ingredients when, according to plaintiffs, they contain harsh and unsafe ingredients that are not disclosed to consumers. Plaintiffs also claim that the company falsely advertises products as “all natural” when, according to the complaint, they contain synthetic chemicals. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in March 2018.) (Zeng Jin Li et al v. Jason Natural Products, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-1127, S.D.N.Y.)
