J. C. Penney’s Discounts

In December 2016, a class-action lawsuit was filed against J. C. Penney for allegedly falsely advertising discounts by marking up the prices of products in order to make its “discounts” appear to be a good deal and induce consumers to purchase products. The case was transferred from state court to federal court in January 2017. (Cavlovic et al v. J.C. Penney Corp., Case No. 17-cv-2042, D. KS.)
