A class-action lawsuit against Hyundai Motor America was tentatively certified by a federal judge in November 2012. The lawsuit alleges that Hyundai falsely advertised the fuel economy of its Elantra and Sonata models, saying they received 40 mpg when, in actuality, they received considerably less. (Kehlie R. Espinosa v. Hyundai Motor America, Case No. 12-cv-00800)
