In September 2016, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Hewlett Packard for allegedly deceptively advertising that printers have “HP Smart Install” (a feature designed to make it easy to install printers because the installation software is obtained automatically on the internet) when the feature has actually been disabled. (Fehrenbach et al v. Hewlett Packard Company, Case No. 16-cv-2297, S. D. CA.)
