August 2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against the companies involved in an allegedly deceptive scheme regarding Health Resource’s products, such as Glucosulin or Colon Flow. The plaintiffs allege that consumers were deceived by the live operators they reached when they called the number presented in a TV ad for the products, in that they were notified that they qualified for a “low-cost trial” for a Sempris Membership Program. The complaint states that the operators deceptively described the terms of the trial offer, including that the membership has numerous money-saving benefits, can be cancelled at any time, and that written materials and free gifts relating to the memberships will be sent to the consumer in the mail. The complaint also alleges that the timing and description of the offer was purposefully misleading as consumers were lead to believe that the product and services being offered were from the same company and were part of the same transaction.
