January 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Hammer Nutrition, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing its products – including Appestat capsules and Perpetuem powder – as “all natural” when they actually contain synthetic ingredients. In addition, plaintiffs claim the company misleads consumers by failing to identify ingredients in product labels and making claims that Garcinia Cabogia (or hydroxycitric acid) is safe and effective as a weight loss nutrient when, in reality, it is not.
