In May 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Froneri US, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Ice Cream Bars as vanilla ice cream dipped in milk chocolate when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredients list shows that the chocolate coating is actually a “milk chocolate and vegetable oil coating” and contains coconut oil, which plaintiffs claim federal regulations prohibit in chocolate. (Sencen et al v. Froneri US, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-4024, S.D.N.Y.)
