July 2020: A state court judge granted preliminary approval of a proposed settlement agreement that would resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging that Great Value, Bonus Blend, Flavor Peak, Food Lion, Hannaford, Market Pantry, and Signature Select brands of ground coffee do not contain enough coffee to make the number of cups advertised on the product packaging and label. According to the settlement terms, class members who do not have proof of purchase may receive a $1 cash award for up to five products purchased and class members who have proof of purchase may receive a $1 cash award for every product purchased for a maximum award of $30 per household. In addition, the company agreed, for a period of three years, to remove inaccurate representations regarding the number of cups of coffee that products make.
