Companies Accused of Greenwashing
When companies green it, they better mean it.
February 2016: This lawsuit was dismissed When a complaint is dismissed with prejudice, it cannot be refiled.. The reasons for the dismissal have not yet been disclosed.
December 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against S.C. Johnson for allegedly deceptively promoting the odor-eliminating capabilities of Glade aerosol sprays. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company claims the sprays “eliminate odors” and provide “up to seven hours of freshness” when they actually have little, if any, odor-eliminating capabilities and do not provide seven hours of freshness. (Shmidt et al v. S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., Case No. 15-cv-6898, E. D. NY.)

A recent spate of class-action lawsuits, including three involving Windex, allege household cleaners marketed as “non-toxic” contain harmful ingredients.
Consumers complain company needs to freshen up its substantiation for odor elimination claims.
