Advertised Cups of Folgers
Allegations: Products do not make the number of cups advertised on the label
In May 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against The J.M. Smucker Co. for allegedly misleadingly advertising the number of six fluid ounce cups of coffee that Folgers ground coffee products make when, according to plaintiffs, the product does not contain enough coffee to make the advertised number of servings. For example, plaintiffs claim that Folgers Classic Roast Coffee makes up to 240 cups of coffee when, according to the complaint, the product makes 173 cups. (Ashton et al v. The J.M. Smucker Co., Case No. 20-cv-992, C.D. Cal.)
