Discounts at Ashley Furniture
Allegations: Falsely advertising discounts from artificially inflated prices
A false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against Ashley Furniture Industries and BD’s Furniture for allegedly misleadingly marketing furniture with the DuraBlend label as being durable blended leather when, according to plaintiffs, the furniture is not durable and does not have the characteristics of leather. According to the complaint, the furniture peels, disintegrates, and does not “hold up to normal wear and tear.” The lawsuit was originally filed in state court in August 2017 and transferred to federal court in September 2017. (Isaac et al v. Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. and Bargain Discount Markets, Inc. (d/b/a BD’s Furniture), Case No. 17-cv-11827, D. MA.)
