2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Tootsie Roll Industries alleging that the company deceptively uses You know when you buy a big bag of chips, and you’re all psyched for a feast, and then it turns out there are like, three chips in the bag? That bag is slack filled.ed opaque packaging for Junior Mints® and Sugar Babies® candies that has 45% empty space. The lawsuit was filed in February, transferred to federal court in April, and amended in August. (Gordon et al. v. Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc., Case No. 17-cv-2664, C.D. Cal.)
